About STIOT

Services Transactions on Internet of Things (STIOT) is a refereed, international publication aiming to be a core resource providing leading technologies, development applications, empirical studies, and future trends in the field of Internet of Things (IOT).

From the technology foundation perspective, Internet of Things covers the science and technology needed for creating, connecting, interacting, and managing devices and all kinds of things such as computer programs, robots, environments, Internet services, and even people. All topics regarding IOT services lifecycle innovation align with the theme of STIOT.

Aiming to become a prestigious international journal in the field, STIOT will consider extended versions of papers published in reputable related conferences and innovative applications of IOT. Sponsored by Services Society (S2), the published STIOT papers will be made accessible for easy of citation and knowledge sharing, in addition to paper copies. All published STIOT papers will be promoted and recommended to potential authors of the future versions of related reputable conferences such as ICIOT, ICWS, SCC, CLOUD, BigData Congress, SERVICES, and MS.

With the rapid advancements of mobile Internet, cloud computing and big data, device-centric traditional Internet of Things is now moving into a new era which is termed as Internet of Things Services (IOTS). In this era, sensors and other types of sensing devices, wired and wireless networks, platforms and tools, data processing/visualization/analysis and integration engines, and other components of traditional IoT are interconnected through innovative services to realize the value of connected things, people, and virtual Internet spaces. The way of building new IoT applications is changing. We indeed need creative thinking, long-term visions, and innovative methodologies to respond to such a change. Sponsored by Services Society, the First S2 International Conference on Internet of Things (ICIOT 2016) is organized to promote research and application innovations around the world.

Editor-in-Chief

Liang-Jie (LJ) Zhang

Liang-Jie (LJ) Zhang is Senior Vice President, Chief Scientist, and Director of Research at Kingdee International Software Group Company Limited. He was also director of The Open Group from 2011 to 2012. Prior to joining Kingdee, he was a Research Staff Member and Program Manager of Application Architectures and Realization at IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center as well as the Chief Architect of Industrial Standards at IBM Software Group. Dr. Zhang has published more than 140 technical papers in journals, book chapters, and conference proceedings. He has 40 granted patents and more than 20 pending patent applications. Dr. Zhang received his Ph.D. on Pattern Recognition and Intelligent Control from Tsinghua University in 1996. He chaired the IEEE Computer Society's Technical Committee on Services Computing from 2003 to 2011. He also chaired the Services Computing Professional Interest Community at IBM Research from 2004 to 2006. Dr. Zhang has served as the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Web Services Research since 2003 and was the founding Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Services Computing. He was elected as an IEEE Fellow in 2011, and in the same year won the Technical Achievement Award" for pioneering contributions to Application Design Techniques in Services Computing" from the IEEE Computer Society. Dr. Zhang also chaired the 2013 IEEE International Congress on Big Data (IEEE BigData Congress 2013) and the 2009 IEEE International Conference on Cloud Computing (IEEE CLOUD 2019).

Submission

Authors are invited to submit original, unpublished extended versions of papers published from related reputable conferences. At least 30% of new substantial content must be added from the published conference versions. A cover letter must be submitted together with the journal version and conference version, explaining in detail the extension and difference between the journal version and the conference version.

Submitted manuscripts will be limited to 12-14 pages, and REQUIRED to be formatted using the STIOT journal template in Microsoft Word format. The submitted papers can only be in the format of WORD. An electronically submitted abstract will be required prior to the submission of the full paper. Electronic submission of manuscripts (in Word formats) is required. Submissions should include paper title, abstract, name of authors, their affiliations, and email addresses. Once your paper is accepted, you must submit your final paper in Word format for camera-ready production.

In order to submit a paper, visit STIOT submission system powered by ConfHub.com Services, and follow the below steps:

Step 1. For existing confhub.com users, sign-in and jump to step 5; For a new user, move to step 2;
Step 2. Click the "New User, Create a New Account" link;
Step 3. Fill in the confhub.com registration form, and read the registrations agreements carefully, then click "I agree and Register" button;
Step 4. You will get a new account and be logged into the user default page automatically;
Step 5. Click "Submit a Paper";
Step 6. Fill-out the Paper Submission form;
Step 7. Click Submit;
Step 8. Click "Back to My Papers List";
Step 9. Click on the ID/Title of the abstract of the paper you would like to upload;
Step 10. You will now have an upload section on at the bottom of the form;
Step 11.Click Browse;
Step 12. Select your paper;
Step 13. Click Submit
Step 14. Email a cover letter explaining in detail the differences between the journal version and the conference version.

Journal Indices

Sponsored by Services Society, all published papers will be shared in the entire professional community on the Internet for free access. In addition, published STIOT papers will be recommended to the potential authors of the future versions of related conferences such as S2 ICIOT, ICWS, SCC, CLOUD, BigData, SERVICES, and MS.

All published papers will be sent to major indexing systems such as GoogleScholar , Compendex (Elsevier Engineering Index), Web of Science, and others for future indexing.

Review Policy

STIOT aims to become a prestigious international journal in the field. STIOT considers extended versions of papers published from reputable related conferences or application innovations of Internet of Things. The published STIOT papers will be recommended to the potential authors of the future versions of related reputable conferences such as S2 ICIOT, ICWS, SCC, CLOUD, BigData, SERVICES, and MS. In addition to their original conference reviewers, STIOT will assign extra board members to review papers. At least 30% of new substantial content must be added from the published conference versions. A cover letter must be submitted together with the journal version and conference version, explaining in detail the extension and difference between the journal version and the conference version.

STIOT is sponsored by Services Society, to support professional reviewers and volunteers to conduct peer-review process for all paper submissions. STIOT's policy and professional ethics require that referees treat the contents of papers under review as privileged information not to be disclosed to others until the date of publication. Therefore it is expected that no one with access to a paper under review will divulge or make any use of its contents unless and until the paper is approved and published. Contents of abstracts submitted to reviewers will also be regarded as privileged information, and handled in this manner. Editors-in-Chief of STIOT will ensure that referees adhere to this practice.

About the Services Society (S2)

The Services Society is a non-profit professional organization that has been created to promote worldwide research and technical collaboration in Services Computing among academia and industrial professionals. Its members are volunteers from industry and academia with common interests. Services Society is registered in the USA as a "501(c) (3) organization", which means that it is an American tax-exempt nonprofit organization." Services Society collaborates with other professional organizations such as the IEEE to sponsor conferences and to promote an effective services curriculum in colleges and universities. Services Society initiates and promotes a "Services University" program worldwide to bridge the gap between industrial needs and university instruction.
